Winter Round 2, Saturday 15th December, David Lloyd – Hampton

It was a great turn out for round 2 and with the top 3 players from League 1 and Junior League 1 qualifying for the final, every point counts! Scott Tucker secured his place in the final with a superb 1 over par and Rob Holland also looks set to join him at Fulwell in February. Round 3 is now looking like a battle for the 3rd spot between Frankie Bellamy, Andrew Dale and Mike Hill.

Richard Hinkly stays top of League 2 after finishing second, but a superb performance from Jey K means its all to play for in the last round.

Junior League 2 looks like its down to a shootout between 2 talented young juniors Monty Holcombe and Ethan Hope. Although an impressive 2nd place on début from Paul Simard means he’s also in with a outside chance.

Although Darren Costa is once again top of Junior League 1, 3 of 6 players look like they have a chance of making the final including the talented Ben Partirdge (Saturdays winner), Hyun Mo Yang, Alex Body (round 1 winner), the ever improving Rob Spurs and newly promoted Zak Dyer. All to play for in round 3!

Winter Round 1, Sunday 18th November, Chessington Golf Centre

Summer Round 12, Saturday 13th October, David Lloyd – Hampton

Two of the four leagues were yet to be decided as we reached the final round of the season. A big turnout on the the final day meant that Rob Holland would be league champion if he won and Scott Tucker finished outside the top three. Although Holland’s impressive 39 in tough conditions was good enough to win on the day, Tucker managed to finish just 2 shots behind to regain his 2011 title. League 2 on the other hand was decided a long time ago so although Frankie Bellamy didn’t add to his score (despite another win), his 42 was 3rd lowest round of the other day showing he will be a league 1 challenge next season.

Junior League 1 was also decided before round 12, Darren Costa’s consistent form throughout the season meant that this was a lap of honor for him. It was tight for second place but Laura Upsdells superb 44 meant that she would finish second with Stephen Barnes in 3rd.

Junior League 2 was the real talking point, Ethan Hope finished with round of the day 40, but with nothing between Zak Dyer and Albie Burgess it was a straight shoot out. Albie finished with a excellent 44 and as Zak came to the 9th he had taken 40 shots meaning that a birdie on the short par 4 would give him the title. After a good drive, he left his second short and only chipped to 15 feet giving him a lot to do if it was to go to countback. Unbelievably he holed the putt and after countback would also win the title.

Thanks to everyone who played this season, we look forward to seeing you for the winter series.

Summer Round 11,  16th September 2012, Moore Place Golf Club

It was a rare dry day for round 11, although what wasn’t unusual was Frankie Bellamy’s dominance in League 2. Despite securing promotion and the league title already, his +4 was a sign of things to come in league 1 next year! In fact, the only lower score than that on the day was Mark Rogerson who went one better in league 1 to take maximum points. Although the title isnt quite decide, it will take something special from Rob Holland and something less than special from Scott Tucker (which he managed today) for him not to defend his title.

Junior League 1 is also decided but Laura Upsdell is now second with an amazing 46, 9 shots better than the league leader Darren Costa and 7 shots in front of Jacob James with a superb 53 in his season debut.

One league that is very much undecided is Junior League 2. Zak Dyer who looked to be cruising is now just 2 points clear of Albie Burgess who’s brilliant 42 took a huge 29 points!

So, just one summer event left and still a bit to play for! To sign up for the final round and presentation you can click here to enter. More highlights and photos on our facebook page.

Summer Round 9, 4th August 2012, David Lloyd – Hampton

After getting knocked out of The Cup, Scott Tucker made it back to back wins with a very tidy +1 in windy conditions. It was also decent return from Rob Holland who finished in second place to keep the pressure on the league 1 leader.

Frankie Bellamy in League 2 once again shot the lowest score in his league, but didnt win. Dave Hill finished level and won on count-back bringing Bellamy’s run of four wins in a row to an end.

Darren Costa in Junior League 1 was back to winning ways. Hyun Mo Yang pushed him all the way, but the league leader held on for his 6th win of the season.

Junior League 2 leader Zak Dyer finished just one shot ahead of Molly Miles who is shooting up the table. Another player on the move is Samuel Murray-Birnbaum who followed up last weeks win with a 3rd place finish. Shot of the day however went to 4th placed Ollie Carter whos 80 yard 9 iron to inside 3 foot set up his first ever birdie!

Summer Round 8, 29th July 2012, Chessington Golf Centre

Another good attendance (considering the Olympic road race and weather had an influence this weekend) meant lots more points available in Round 8. It was Scott Tucker who faired best in the anything but fair weather. He won by a shot finishing ahead of Jack Robinson who only has one event left before he makes his way to the states for College golf. The pair were level after Robinson’s birdie on 7, but an amazing up and down from Tucker on the 8th followed by a 4 at the last was good enough for the win.

Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V – Frankie Bellamy took maximum points from League 2, this time with a personal best of +4! Stuart Beeney finished 2nd on his debut one shot ahead of Adam Guy (also on debut) who’s shot of the day to set up a birdie 2 on the last was just good enough for 3rd place.

As for the Juniors, its 2 wins in 2 from Laura Upsdell in Junior League 1, even league leader Darren Costa couldnt stop her this time.

Junior League 2 (played over just 5 holes due to the weather) was tight with Samuel Murray-Brinbaum and Ben Burrows level with just one to play. However, Samuel managed an excellent 5 on the 5th to take maximum points. A great effort from all the younger juniors in those conditions!

Summer Round 7, 14th July 2012, Abbey Moor

With Rob Holland absent from League 1 the door was open for Jeremy Dyer and Scott Tucker to close the gap on the leader. It was looking like Dyer was on track for a win with a 3 shot lead going down the last, however a triple bogey 8 meant that he finished level with Tucker and to add salt to the wound would lose on countback to the now new League 1 leader. Frankie Bellamy took maximum points from League 2 (I’m starting to copy and paste that sentence) and was a whole 15 shots lower than his last round at Abbey Moor.

Albie Burgess in Junior League 2 might be starting to worry the early leaders. His second win from only 3 events played moves him into 3rd place. Round of the day however was from Laura Upsdell (Junior League 1), her 45 was only 1 shot off the winning score in League 1!

Just 5 events to go, click here to enter. More highlights and photos on our facebook page.

Summer Round 6, 23rd June 2012, David Lloyd, Hampton

A win in League 1 for defending champion S. Tucker at last, although there were some big names missing including Rob Holland (League 1 leader), Les Allen and Jeremy Dyer (who could only caddy for son Zak after a decorating injury). Although Tucker’s +4 would have taken some beating and it looks like he’s found some form as we reach the half way point in the league and the 1/4 finals of the Cup. As for league 2, you guessed it. Frankie Bellamy won again, however D. Hill pushed him all the way and finished just 3 shots behind. Darren Costa looks unstoppable in Junior League 1 as he took maximum points again just 2 shots ahead of Max Frost who played well on his debut. Junior League 2 is the league everyone is talking about! Ethan Hope took a massive chunk out of Zak Dyer’s lead with an excellent 2nd place just 2 shots behind Albie Burgess who has made a great start in his first 2 events. Its not just the boys closing the gap either, Molly Miles and Maya Stojanovic both finished ahead of the league 2 leader with excellent rounds. So, 6 events left and with only the best 5 performances from each player counting towards the final score, its still all to play for!

Summer Round 5, 20th May 2012, Moore Place

Moore Place proved to be a bit of a struggle for the League 1 players, tough greens and a few blind shots made for some big numbers. In fact we had 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and a 10! It was almost 1 – 10 if Andrew Dale’s ball had turned 1 more revolution on the 8th. On the same hole Rob Holland didn’t quite manage the birdie that Andrew Dale got, not sure what you call a 9 on a par 3 but until then he was leading. That left the door open for Sarah Parish looking for her first league 1 win. Two double bogeys would have been good enough after she almost eagled the par 4 7th, but she ended with a disappointing 8 and 10 on the 9th meaning Rob Holland did manage to secure another victory.

The League 2 players didnt seem to struggle as much, Frankie Bellamy (who won yet again) and 2nd placed Mark Nevins both shot rounds that would have been good enough to win league 1!

Darren Costa extended his lead in Junior League 1 with another win but it was Zak Dyer in Junior League 2 with performance of the day. His 41 was the lowest score in round 5 and keeps him top of the league.

League leaders wont be getting complacent though as we’re not even halfway through the season and with only the best 5 scores counting towards the final standings its still all to play for!

Summer Round 4, 6th May 2012, Abbey Moor Golf Club

It was a tight affair in League 1, 3 pars in the last 4 holes from Jeremy Dyer meant he finished 1 shot behind runner up Scott Tucker who was in turn 1 behind Rob Holland whos birdie, par, par finish was good enough for his first win of the season. The top three of Holland, Allen and Tucker remains the same only now much tighter. Frankie Bellamy couldn’t make it 4 from 4 but he still remains top of league 2 despite debut a big 25 points from Rakash Gupta for his debut win. Darren Costa was back to winning ways in Junior League 1 but its Junior League 2 that everyone is talking about. Zak Dyer’s 1 shot win was enough to take him top of the league, but queueing behind him all within 14 points are Ethan Akpan, Ethan Hope and James Allen.

Summer Round 3, 22nd April 2012, Strawberry Hill Golf Club

Frankie Bellamy made it 3 wins from 3 in League 2, his score of +10 would have been good enough for 3rd place in league 1! Defending champion Scott Tucker is still without a win this season as Les Allen finished 1 shot ahead on +7 to move him joint top with Rob Holland in League 1. Darren Costa in Junior League 1 was also on target for 3 wins in 3 events, but in a competitive league with only 3 shots separating the top 4, he finished 4th on count-back. Hyun Mo Rang’s first win of the season moved him to 3rd and another solid performance from Stephen Barnes means he his just 12 points behind Darren Costa who remains in first place. Junior League 2 is just as close, but its now Ethan Hope who tops the table after a brilliant +10. It was a great effort from all the younger players in Junior League 2 who got through the worst of the conditions while still playing some remarkable golf!

Summer Round 2, 14th April 2012, David Lloyd, Hampton

It was back to back wins for Frankie Bellamy in league 2, while in league 1, Rob Holland finished second on count-back again, this time to Tom McLoughlin after both shooting +6. Not as close in Junior League 2, where Ethan Akpan went top of the league finishing a massive 12 shots ahead of the rest of the field! Darren Costa also made it back to back wins in Junior League 1, but only 3 shots clear of Stephen Barnes who started with a pair of 7s. Click here for the full results.

Summer Round 1, March 2012, Chessington Golf Club

There were a lot of new faces for the opener of the 2012 Summer Season but it was last seasons regulars that led the way. Les Allen finished ahead of Rob Holland on count-back and defending champion, Scott Tucker finished two shots off the pace in League 1. Frankie Bellamy got off to a good start with a solid 43 and took maximum points in League 2. Round of the day was from Darren Costa who’s 38 in Junior League 1 was the only junior round sub 40, and would have been good enough for 3rd place in League 1. Winter Round 6, 15th February 2012, David Lloyd, Hampton

Despite being the coldest event of the winter season, there was a great turn out with everyone aiming to improve their final league position. There were also 3 titles up for grabs! Andrew Dale had already secured the League 2 title and if it wasn’t for the absence of Mark Rogerson, Scott Tucker may not have defended his League 1 title with a disappointing +7. That did open the door for Rob Holland who was now looking to finish second overall if he could win on the day. Despite shooting a decent +5, it was fellow South African (and one to watch next season!) who finished +3 to take maximum points on the day. George Hastings made it 3 wins out of 4 to finish top of Junior League 2 and it was Zack Balcombe with his second win of the season who finished top of Junior League 1. Check out our Facebook page for the highlights and we’ll see you all on March 25th for Round 1 of the Summer Season!

Winter Round 5, 22nd January 2012, Chessington Golf Club

Andrew Dale looks to have wrapped up the League 2 title with another win in round 5. It might have been different however if Tony Backhurst, who finished just 2 shots behind, had done better than an 8 at the 1st. Although its not all over in League 1, Scott Tucker inched closer to defending his title with a very good 2 over par in the windy conditions at Chessington Golf Centre. Callum O’Shea, back after injury, showed that the Junior League 1 table might look different if he had been fit from the start of the winter season. His score of 40 was just too good for Zack Balcombe who finished 1 shot behind. Zack wont be too worried about second place as that was good enough to catapult him to top of the league. There was also a change at the top of Junior League 2 where George Hastings, after another win, leapfrogged Ollie Carter in the penultimate event. Check out our Facebook page for the highlights.

Winter Round 4, 3rd December 2011, David Lloyd, Hampton

It was back to back wins from Ollie Carter to send him top of junior league 2, his 5 at the last (in the dark!) sealed a 1 shot victory ahead of James Allen. Monty Holcombe on debut is certainly one to watch finishing just 3 shots behind! It wasn’t as close in Junior League 1, Zain Ahmed in his first event was 7 shots ahead of the rest of the field! As for the adults, Andrew Dale’s second place was good enough to keep him top of league 2, Dave Hill though shot a superb 43 to move him up to second in a tightly packed league. Round of the day was Scott Tucker’s one over par for his first and long awaited win in league 1. That now takes the defending champion 2 points clear after Mark Rogerson could only manage 5th place. Thanks to all of those that donated to Macmillan in the beat the pro challenge – too many winners to mention!

Winter Round 3, 13th November 2011, Chessington Golf Centre

What a day in Mid November! Glorious sunshine and over 30 players in winter round 3 at Chessington GC. Ollie Carter recorded his first win of the season to move up to 3rd, beating league leaders George Hastings (by 1 shot) and Zak Dyer in Junior League 2. Junior League 1 is just as tight, with a huge 30 points from new boy Zack Balcombe and the return of Laura Upsdell who finished 2nd, just 1 shot behind. As for the League 2, Andrew Dale shot his lowest UKGL score but it was Frankie Bellamy (1 of only 3 players to break 40), who also shot his lowest ever round to take maximum points by just 1 shot. League 1 however, is not quite as close. With 2 wins in 3 for Mark Rogerson he’s now a massive 22 points clear. Not over yet though, as we still have 3 events left this winter and with only your best 3 scores counting, everyone is still in with a shout!

Winter Round 2, 22nd October 2011, Strawberry Hill Golf Club

It was a Rogerson double on another great Autumnal day. Mark finished 4 shots clear in league 1 and son Lewis shot the 5th best round of the day in Junior League 1 to go top by 1 point. Andrew Dale was a massive 7 shots clear in league 2 despite finishing in the dark. Performance of the day however would probably go to Zak Dyer who won Junior League 2 in only his 2nd ever event!

Winter Round 1, 16th October 2011, Chessington Golf Centre

After a double bogey, double bogey start, Iain Carter probably wouldn’t have thought he would take maximum points from round one. However, level par for the remaining holes (including a birdie at the last) saw him take the early lead in League 1 for the winter season with a 2 shot win over new UKGL player Jeremy Dyer.

League 2 wasn’t as exciting, but Tony Backhurst wont worry about that, winning by 7 shots over the summer league 2 champion Mark Nevins.

Junior League 1 saw the closest contest. It was finally won by Oliver Hinkly on count-back from Tom Ellman after both players pared the last.

George Hastings was Junior League 2 winner with an impressive 38 that included 4 pars! Ethan Akpan, the youngest junior of the day finished just 3 shots behind.
